Hi Red! It's another lovely cool day today. I am going to make the most of it and go hack a buck of unwanted saplings down and clean the bantam coop. After the good amount of rain this winter, the trees and bushes are taking over. You can hardly walk in some places!


But they won't trim it first... at least not to my satisfaction.

Hey wishing. It's actually a beautiful day here also. We've had so much rain here the coops are a mess. I think I'll get outside today 2.

Good morning everyone! I spent the morning so far, wrestling the fat off 19lbs of beef. Tri tip was on sale for $2/lb, but comes in these huge bags, so I trim it up, and even though there is a huge amount of fat to dispose of, it's still cheaper than buying trimmed pieces from the butcher. Except for the little bit we ate last night, it's all going in the freezer!
Granny, you asked before what cut it is... called bottom sirloin in places where they don't call it Tri tip.

Looks like this when trimmed, except I cut off ALL the fat!



I don't know, pertnear, I sense some wiggle room here!


I'm more in the "teacher is there to teach" camp. I didn't share much of my personal life with students, but I did answer their questions honestly, no matter how much they were designed to discomfort me. For example "How come there are no pictures of people that look like me in this science book?" This was 30 yrs ago, from a black student in a mostly white honors biology class. I examined the book and told him I wasn't exactly sure, but I suspected the book was written by white people who just didn't think about it. He burst out laughing, saying he thought I was going to try to make some lame excuse. We got along very well, that young man and I! I passed his little test, and he passed mine, because he had an open mind.

Red, he hasnt been on since day before yesterday. Maybe thats why I am in the kitchen, just dont know what to do with myself. Nervous energy. I decided I wanted some mustard greens to go w/dinner and by the time I did that cornbread was done so I eat then went outside and made a dispenser for the calcium. It could be used for food too . 5 gallon.
