Hi everyone! Have been outside scheming with hubs on how to add on to the layer coop to accommodate the 5 new pullets I ended up with. I don't usually get chicken math, but I did it this year! Have been thinking about putting the 3 cream legbars with the bantams, but we decided to keep the layers together and leave the bantams to their coop, which is plenty roomy if I don't let them out for the day. Layer coop had 10 hens and is built for about 10 hens. I need more roosts and more nest boxes. The nest boxes are easy... just put some in the run and I think that will make them happy. Roosts are a little tougher since they like to be inside the coop at night and never roost in the run, so we are thinking about pushing out a section of the coop. The plan sounds easy enough, but it ever seems to end up that way. We are heading off to the hardware store to see what wondrous things they have that we can use to make the changes easily.
