Granny's gone and done it again

Rain and chickens just don't mix huh.
How many boys you up to now?

How are the newbies doing this morning?

I think the ducklings were a bad example.
Uh 2 white leghorn, quirky, 4 bantam Cochin, a porcelain duccle, and whatever Petree is. Plus Davey. So 10 boys total.

They are good. Fed crunchy. He's a pig!

Oh and I started a bit of FF in measured cups to try on the chicks last night. I ended up using bottled water because someone kept dumping my bucket.

If I tried that stunt I'd have over 70 birds by now. I have 3 constant broodies, one of which looks like she's going broody for the 3rd time in her life---and she's only 10 months old. The other goes broody as soon as she weans her chicks, and the other hides clutches EVERYWHERE. Behind the nest box, in the chick pen...

Thank goodness I sold the other crazy broodies.
More is better always !!!!!

More roos is never better, papa, unless your gonna eat em. I have 4 roos & I'm contemplating the fate of Butter, my BO roo.
I'll say. I have 10ish in my flock of 40... Gotta sell or eat a bunch. Not counting the ducks in here, there's a buncha drakes in their group too. Oh, plus the Chanteclers...

Lemon pepper roasted chicken is yummy.
Yum indeed!!

My sibling is threatening a visit. My parents are letting her use their airmiles. She's plotting to fly into lax (you can fly direct from Ottawa to lax but flying from Ottawa to San Diego involves long layovers and is quite the ordeal!) and hoping to do it in November. Sigh. I hate to say it but I won't put up much hope until it's all booked. All the years I've lived away from the family and the only time she came to visit was when she went with the then fiancé (now ex blessedly) to Calgary to visit HIS family who recently moved out there. (Though they also got a visit in to my parents who were posted up in northern Alberta at the time - yep this was before dad retired from the military...I was still in college so this was over ten years ago.)

So if she does book it looks like I may train up to la to pick her up (cause let's face it. I do not want to deal with la traffic lol)

Cluckers, hugs and love to y'all. I know I'm not on as much as I once was but know that y'all are awesome.

Can't believe we didn't have any damage from the wind yesterday. I must have the hatches battened down tight. I put a wrought iron chair in front of all 3 of my pen doors too. Bet we've had 10-12 inches of rain.
