Granny. A new sparkles story.
So, yesterday, after run and getting home, I was cleaning out the coop. Girls ran out one of the doors, nuts to it, I'll let them have some free range time, I'm out there, why not.
Of course, one of the rocks had to start dust bathing in the planter I was starting some morning glories. Now bear in mind that they've had their way with this particular planter a few times before. So I shoo her off, she hops back in. Shoo her off again, and of course Nugget hops in. so, naturally, I throw my hands in the air, decide BAWK IT, tear out the nubbins that were left of the seedlings and take the planter and that sweet dirt to their dust bath. In it goes! Girls continue free ranging, I continue cleaning their coop. Finally get done, and get them back in their coop/run but there's still a scant bit of daylight so I leave them at that - don't tuck them in right away. Go back out after the sun had set (but there was still enough light to see). Do my headcount...seven. Missing one. It's sparkles. AGAIN NUGGET?!?!? So out into the run I go, and she's having the time of her life in that sweet sweet dirt in the dustbath.
"Nugget" I say "It's getting dark, shouldn't you be going to bed?"
She just looked at me, kicked up some more dirt and luxuriated in the dirty goodness.
"bawwwk bawk bawk" she clucked ecstatically, rubbing her head and neck further into the dirt
"Fine, but I expect you to put yourself to bed soon! It's getting dark!"
"baaaawk!" she agreed, fluffing her feathers and sinking deeper into the soil.
So, go in, clean up some dishes from dinner and sit down a few with hubs. Notice, oops, it's now full dark. I better tuck in those girls! So out to the coop I go. Once again, seven. Dangit nugget....I hope you're not eaten!
Go outside, head straight for the dustbin.
"Nugget!"
I heard a very sheepish "bawwwk bawk" from the dust bath. There she was, hunkered down in there.
"Oh Nugget, you stayed out too late, didn't you?"
"baaaaaaaaaaaaawk!"
"Silly girl! You know to tuck yourself in when it gets dark!"
"Bawk bawk bawk"
At this point, I scooped down and picked her up, still rather dirty from her dustbath. Carried her into the coop and put her down on the steps to the roost to see what she'd do. Now bear in mind, gentle readers, we do have some harbor freight solar powered motion detector lights in the coop, so at this point I'm waving around in front of it so the light is on and she can find her bearings. She takes a minute to orient herself, fluffs off some dust, fluffs off some more, and heads up to bed.
So that's two days in a row nugget has done silly things.
I was expecting some form of crazy shenanigans today, but she was pretty un-nuggetlike.
And yes, I do have full conversations with her haha.
This post may be more verbose than usual, since I'm waiting for steam to update, and hubs is playing gta-v online...so....my download is...well...reminiscent of dial up speeds. sigh. I think I'm going to give up and just go to bed and finish my stuff in the am! He won't be eating up bandwidth at 6am!
Anyway, I've missed a bunch and hopefully some time tomorrow I'll be able to go through and catch myself up! I just had to share the hijinx.
