Granny's gone and done it again

Long rotten day, yesterday. My big dog Belle had what they call a catastrophic collapse. She went from running around with Scooter the night before to being unable to stand or walk that morning. As the day went on, she got worse... heart racing, difficulty breathing, and her abdomen filled with fluid. She could lift her head and drink some water, but that was about it. My sister came and helped me get her into the car for the last ride to the vet. Over 12 years Belle has been with me. I'm going to miss my friend.

Sorry about the loss of your friend, Wishing.

:hugs :hugs Wishing. When I lost Dolly my only regret was that it happened so quickly (no chance for goodbyes), but I do not envy you that last drive.

Have some of my petunias.

Wishing, I am so sorry for your loss of your companion & friend, Belle. Losing a beloved pet can be so heartwrenching. Praying that God brings you all peace & healing from your loss Sending the biggest :hugs possible

I hear ya. Last night we had a major firework display over our house. The dogs bark and run around the yard. I was afraid the pups might get spooked so I brought them inside.

Wishing, I am so very sorry for your loss. I know with all the other stresses you have right now this is not what you needed . Big hugs

THE LAST BATTLE

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.

You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend.

Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close -- we two -- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Thank you all for your well wishes. I made it through the whole process without tears... until now. You guys got me. Especially the petunias. And the poem finished me off. Need a towel to dry them all. Crying is good, right? :hugs
