ON the bright side I already have an egg customer who is all kinds of excited about duck eggs. Talk about "counting your chickens before their hatched"

That means she’s pretty close to me too! Hmm too bad Hawk is still 2 weeks away from hatching...

Prefaced by saying I need to do a good bit of research yet, and it would be March before we really started looking, but I think I could fence off a bit of the goat pen for buns to live in. With a hutch that's off the ground a bit, so I can rake out underneath. They can eat hay and get veggie cuttings when the kids visit! I really think I can work this out. And it would be an inexpensive farm addition.




He looks at Instagram. Sometimes. Right now he's annoyed by the bathroom ducks, so much that he packed up and went to the front room to sleep last night. He said it's too hot and stinks.

The hutch idea would work out great, they could have a little ramp to get in and out. And rabbit droppings make some of the best fertilizer. No need to compost, you can put it straight in your garden. Depending on how they interact, the rabbits might be able to run with the goats.
Research is good. Look and see if there are any breeders for the type you want. If anyone raises Flemish without needing ac for them, I would recommend them. Kids would certainly not try pick up those monsters, but they will come around for pets. Temperament wise, rabbits are more like cats than anything else I can think of.

I bought two at the rabbit show after i built the cage and the other one recently.

We can't let dogs run loose here. They would be killed on the road or taken by someone. Only dogs at the pound are chi and pit mixes.

Here too. Sucks, I may have to road trip back to Alberta to get a mongrel that'll work for me.
(Bully breeds can be lovely dogs but I like my herding/working dogs!)

I've moved Snowflake and her littles to the "play pen" semi-permanently, and put Racecar and her littles in the broody suite.

The guinea-keets and cochins are co-mingling nicely. Everything seems to be going fine.

Twist, all the rain we had this summer has damaged tree roots here. We have had several trees fall across the county road to our farm during thunderstorms this summer.
