Granny's gone and done it again

If you haven't seen Moana, you should! I still cry every time. It's all about self empowerment, believing in yourself even if you're different, family and forgiveness, etc. etc. It's really one of my faves. And the music is good!
Okay, now I thought it was something like that, although I didn't think of Mickey. Bubba could carry a checkered flag too. Moana is in the news because there is some stupid nonsense that dressing up like Moana is culturally insensitive. :hmm Oh brother. Sounds like she is an excellent role model character, and should be emulated. Hope we see a lot of little Moanas this Halloween!
My son is at a new school this year, and they have painted prominent portions of the gray building a painfully bright yellow. In an attempt to get the color changed, his brother told him to say "As an Asian, I find your overuse of the color yellow to be culturally insensitive. It triggers me. You have to change it." So far he hasn't had the guts to try it. We are going to have to get used to the color... no one likes it! Imagine a huge 2 story building wall the color of this guy. :frow Makes ya squint!

I actually read several blogs about a month ago to see if dressing her as Moana was ok. I struggle finding the difference between cultural appropriation and appreciation. Ultimately they seem to agree as long as we don't paint her skin or attempt actual cultural designs, then it's ok. I didn't get the wig, either. I only bought the necklace.

What a crazy world we live in.

I’m about to beat someone at work. I had a gallon size baggie full of candy in my cabinet that I put in there Monday morning. Someone ate half the bag today. I don’t mind if they ask but half the bag is a little much when I’ve only had 1 piece and bought it. I should bake brownies with laxative and put in there Thursday when I go back.
