Granny's gone and done it again

Granny how are the Littles?

Lunch break at work. Hubs is off for the day to do stuff with his dad. Asking him to stop by the feed store in town however...is too much. (Yet tonight I will have to load the camper as much as I can since he wants to leave tomorrow kinda the second I get home from work...) do some last minute laundry, do the pre desert groc shop, sigh. Oh yeah. And work all day today and tomorrow. (Hubs has it off)

Girls are freeloading hardcore. One of my marans is moulting bad...she looks so funny with no tailfeathers. The feathers are growing back but she’s just in that awkward looking inbetween stage lol. Poor girl.

But seriously I’m lucky to get two eggs out of eight hens. Sigh. Time for new chicks. Let’s be fair...these girls are all “past their prime”. And between some moulting and the season...hubs was all “oh we’ve got eggs for the desert!!!” I politely reminded him all we have is what’s in the skelter.

Cool thing for anyone interested. Our offroadvo is featured on roadkill.com’s website. Whee!

I think chickens like time off egg laying! Look at mine, i have been feeding them since Mid August and don't expect eggs until maybe February! Then they have all sorts of excuses... not enough light, molting, worms, parasites, stress... it is a wonder they ever lay eggs at all! But compared to most birds i guess they do pretty well. But i miss my quail, they start laying at 6 weeks of age and mine continued to lay during cold weather. Need to get more of them. And they are a perfect sized for one serving if you get too many roosters!

chicks are doing ok. One I think might be a FTT . Hope not but I have seen that body shape before. It was a sticky chick.
I had more to do then I thought when we went out. Was going to make the pumpkin pie tonight but I am tired now.
