This morning I remembered that I used to be obsessed with salukis. I used to buy vintage art/prints off eBay, and pay by check I sent through the mail. Today I looked them up and found some cool mixes! This one is from Qatar (fostered in dc) and has 3 legs.

This little fella is 20 weeks and a teensy 5lbs. He’s Saluki/golden retriever and was pulled from a high-kill shelter.

Salukis are cool... very beautiful. Sight hounds, right? Wonder if they run off. I always read that the Rhodesian Ridgebacks (sight hounds) have to be kept on fenced property because if they see something they will take off and go and go into another county. Over the years, we had 2 Ridgebacks, one mixed with bull mastiff. They had the run of 33 acres with spotty fencing and never ran off.

That’s what they say. Bff and I were talking about this the other day, that beagles are said to follow their nose but childhood companions in books were always beagles. I saw a description of boxers today that said they were “bright” but the ones I’ve met have always been exceptional dummies.

I think a Weimaraner mix will be in our future again. I like the majority of their traits. They’re said to be high energy and unable to ge physically exhausted; Jewel can run faster than a speeding bullet, but she also can be a lazy bum and sleep all day.
