Granny's gone and done it again

Yes, and he almost died as a youngster when he landed on the rabbit cage and Chicory bit off the tip of one of his toes! Lost a lot of blood. Took him to an avian vet who was shocked he had survived, gave him a shot of antibiotic, and sent him home with instructions on how to set up a moist, heated recovery pen.
Lupin is on the larger side, so I think that helped him survive. Not as big as a budgie, though. His cage is next to the cockatiel, so he has a little company since his cage mate died several years ago.
A budgie is a type of parakeet. There are English budgies which were bred for large size. But the common budgie sold in the US has the same background as a wild parakeet in Australia. Just fyi. I was deep into caged birds at one time.

Ah, I see. I've always heard budgie as referring to the larger English budgies, and parakeets are smaller. Maybe it's a CA thing. :idunno When I was visiting friends in England (last century!!), a park near them had an outdoor aviary full of budgies. They were big! They lived there year round, although I think there was a place for them to go inside that might have been heated for the winter. Not sure, loooong time ago, but I do remember those birds... and the cheerful raucous NOISE!

Pretty much all the hookbilled birds are noisy, with a few exceptions. I had known a few types that are quiet. But parrots don't hold a candle to these guineas
hahahaaa... Which is why I will never have guineas, cool as they are. Sun Conure (I think it was called) just about blew out my ear drum one time. Painful noise!

I finished the little roof thing i made to get rid of the scraps of the railings. It will cover a block of salt on a rope to attract deer for me to see.
