I just came in. Went and shut the guinea coop, chicken pop doors. Then i built 2 rectangles to make a 44"×33" x 24" high quail cage. So i just need to cut the uprights which will double as legs. Maybe i will make a slanting roof. Anyway, i made it of PT wood so it should be durable. Once i get it painted i can start putting wire on it. If i do find quail around here i don't want to miss out. I want Coturnix but i understand Bobwhites are popular here.

The silkie came from a all buff breeding pen. The Cochin is hatchery so

Should be good. I think buff is recessive, so both genes from each parent have to be buff and you get all buff chicks. Question is if there are more genes involved that can make a difference. I understand genetics, but don't know much about the particulars of chicken genetics.
Set them ALL and we will find out.

The broody hona is on 12 eggs and an ant pile. I bought those ferro baits so I guess she gets one. Lagertha is also wanting to set, so I’ll give move her to a suite and give her eggs tomorrow night.

Good thing I’m not hatching this year.

I got 9 eggs today, including a teensy brown one. But I set a handful down to get that green egg and forgot them. So the goats broke a few, including the teensy brown one.

All the boxes were full tonight with a hona hen, next a scovy hen, next a hona cock, next a scovy drake, and last a scovy hen.

I also candled the last set of 3 . one is good . sucks polish/jub cross One is pouras and I cant see anything because of that and the blue egg again, Not fertile.
