Nice to have, but a lot of work. We had an in ground pool in FL.

A/C is cheaper
We have a 24' above ground pool. Came with the house. I consider it an adult wading pool. You can walk in it, but not really swim. Takes too much time and too much money in both chemicals and electricity.

My sister just paid a small fortune to get her in ground pool taken out. I guess there were some structural problems. Cost even more because the space between the house and the block wall on the "ground level" side of the house isn't big enough for a wheel barrow so the deconstruction guys had to build a ramp and go through the other side. Gotta love overpopulated, cram the houses in, Southern California. Way too much actual manpower.

Hubby took care of it, i just enjoyed swimming. He had a pool guy do most of the work.
