So the baby was squating with its sore foot out to the side but when I stuck my hand in there it got up and run on 2 feet.

I dont think I understand Wishing. Why do I need to if they are still in there ?

Because if any bacteria are in there (now that foot is open) they can multiply and will be of greater risk to all.

It's probably not a viral thing, but bacterial and infectious by direct exposure, like worms or coccidia. Even perfectly healthy birds can get infected in this way, but it can be hit or miss.
If you do end up culling in the end, wrap the little corpses in plastic bags and stick them in the garbage can to keep disease from being picked up by your local wild birds.
