Granny's gone and done it again

Good morning from California! Well, a smokey morning. We had super high winds last night. Blew stuff all over the yard and kept us awake. ugh. I had to tape off the cat door since it was swinging in the wind and allowing lots of smoke in the house. :( Today we can see a bit of blue sky, but the smell of smoke is strong. Wind is much less now, but the breeze is stirring things up. Humidity is low low low... Paradise fire grew over 4,000 acres last night (104,000 total acres burned) and the death toll is now over 20. When it's safe, they will be bringing in forensic anthropologists to search for more remains. :( Over 100 people are unaccounted for. Hopefully that's just due to the chaos, and they will find that everyone is safe. Do a rain dance for us!
I sure hope rain goes that way. It is sure a horror when wild fires sweep through destroying everything.

Poor Tom. At least he is getting around better with the one good leg now. Does Robert understand what's happening?

Sorry, Alley. What kind of ducks do you have?
You get tomorrow off from work, yes?

:hugs It's a very sobering thing. Time is relentless.

Oh wow. Not even officially winter and you are looking for spring. Going to be a long winter!

I wonder if they have Serama blue layers... Hubs will be heading over that way next month. Maybe he could bring some eggs back... say they are hard boiled for his lunch. haha... I could write a book... I Married an Egg Smuggler!
MIL is getting worn out taking him to doctors, getting medicine etc. Then he refuses the treatments anyway. I think he is just tired of living like that.
Yeah, winter is not my favorite season. Even though i have heaters for the WS, it just isn't comfortable in there in winter. Plus i can't leave paint in there.

Tell them all Happy from Granny ! Anyone want to send Tom a card ? No biggy if not. Honestly dont really feel right even asking but I know it would really please him and I have to wonder if it might be his last. Thought scares the shoot out of me.
I will.

Hubby helped me load some plywood in the truck and take it into the barn and up to the loft. So we have two sheets of nice thick plywood up. He cut it to fit around the 6x6s. Then screwed it down. I worked on feeding, and then put up the wood i cut the other day on the hutches to block wind. I am slowly getting it done. I had to come in to thaw out my hands and feet. 65° inside, 46° outside right now.

Thank you H20 ! This is going to make his day !
Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans for dinner. Robert didnt like the meat . Still no nap, still very sleepy.
Lost 2 littles . Cats got a snack. Waste not want not I guess.

Was the barn already there when you bought the place?
