Granny's gone and done it again

I tried making the dream pie w/ cool whip and it wasnt good .
The only part of the dream pie I would like is the chocolate pudding, but not the instant kind. I like the kind you have to cook.

I can't find the news story. It was about hospital patients being evacuated from the hospital, and on the road, ambulances were catching on fire. :( One new mom, hugging her newborn, was making what she thought was her last phone call to her husband when she was pulled from the ambulance (c-section, her legs were still numb and she couldn't walk) and was taken to a nearby house along with a few others, including a nurse. Fire chief was with them, and they broke into the garage of the house for refuge, and he organized the rest of the people to save the house from burning, and they did it! All the houses around them were burned to the ground.

Oh, I just found a different report of the same story.

:frow sweet dreams
Have a good sleep everyone!

Granny, watch the video in that link. It is an amazing story shows how bad this fire was. Lot of burned out cars on the road. Lot of people still missing. (over 600)

little snapper there isn't it ??
Yep. This one was no more than 2" shell. NO idea where it came from. Did have a big one in the pond, last seen a couple of years ago. But we had no rain all summer and the pond dried up. No big turtle in there. AND I fenced an acre 2 years ago which included the pond. Last seen the big turtle was in a post hole I couldn't get deep enough because I hit ledge and it filled with water. No way for the turtle to get back in to the pond through the fence.

or just heat up some ketchup and add a little water to it, mater gravy :D
:sick

Since we jus did thanksgiving. Turkey gravy.
Neck and innards in water to simmer while turkey cooks.
if water reduces add more.
When turkey is finished and removed from pan, pour liquid through strainer into neck pot.
Bring to boil
Remove neck and innards
Keep a rolling boil, add the rue and whisk vigorously until smooth. I use an immersion wand. Add More water if too thick.
Salt and pepper to taste
Edit: I always make my rue fresh. Start by Melting a stick of butter then add in flour until it just starts pulling together. A soft rue will be slightly wet, while a firmer rue will form more of a paddy. Keep turning it so the flour doesn't burn. When it all starts getting kind of foamy(I call this activating the rue.) its pretty much ready. I like to take it just a little longer to really ensure the thickness of my gravy or soup.
Needs to be a sticky on a cooking thread! Though I use grease from the turkey, not butter. But then I'm not a professional chef. Just do it the way Mom did.

A quick gravy can also be done this way with a roast. Put the pan on a burner and add water to the drippings, scrape all the good stuff from the bottom and add your rue.
Still, if you have the time, I would rather simmer bones and veggies for a day or two and make gravy with that.
Yep, Mom did the "in the roasting pan" gravy too.

Thats how I seen my mom make it. I have tried many times and I just make dumplings. I never made rue, I added flour to it
And ended up with lumps of uncooked flour didn't you!
 Im gonna get you before Bruce Almighty does. Thats some pricey gas !!
You think $1.99 for gas is expensive? Haven't seen that since 2003!!!
Cheap gas here in So. Cal. was at Costco when sister filled up yesterday - $3.14. Prices elsewhere run more like $3.29-$3.59. Don't know why anyone stops at the more expensive ones.

try 2.89 or higher and we produce the flipping oil
Yeah but you send it all down to the Gulf and they have to make the gas and send it back up ;) Cheapest last seen in Vermont was about $2.89.

Wishing. Really cool show on peregrine falcons on pbs
We watched that at Dad's Wed night, or tried to. Less than 1/2 way through it was all jumpy, really hard to watch. Other stations were fine. And yes, very interesting. What eyesight they have!

"they" (whoever that is) "discovered" that saccharin is actually not carcinogenic.
Perhaps not but some of us get migraines from artificial sweeteners, I'll stick with sugar than you.

I found a perfect gift for my BFF, it is a kit to make a blanket with a sloth on it. She loves sloths.
Because she is married to a sloth?:gig
Of course I have no idea.

Im here ! You couldnt get that lucky Twist to find me in your bed.
Jacket is only $500.00
 :th Guess Tom isn't getting one of those.

I need to float test these eggs i had in the garage. If still good i will cook them for the birds.
Found a nest 2 years ago that Yuki made out in ht plants in front of the house. No idea why she decided to stop laying in the nest boxes. 13 eggs, all float tested fine, ate the all.

ya I remember but your getting up there in yrs and wanted to err on the side of caution.
Hey no picking on Cap just because she is 7 years older than you! ;)

Umm why ? Thats one of the dumbest things ever came out my mouth
Nah, it was funny. Besides we've read plenty of dumber things from you :p

Oh, all those poor critters. I would take the guinea pigs if no one wants them, and the 5th dog on the page (CA21e-333) is the SPITTING IMAGE of my old dog Belle. :( If no one claims her, I want to go get her too.
Careful there W4W, you are close enough to actually do it!

chicken coop and almost Robert.

Told him I didnt want to. He insisted I know how to load and shoot it. I fired one shot . Scared me like a can of biscuits and I swung around to him w/ 4 more bullets in the dang thing and he grabbed the barrel away before it was pointing right at his gut. That boy moved fast !
And you were worried about HIM having a gun!

I tried making the dream pie w/ cool whip and it wasnt good .
Cool Whip is, I think, an acquired taste 9I haven't acquired it and don't intend to) so I can see where it would mess up a recipe meant to be made with whipped cream.

Oh, I just found a different report of the same story.
There was one in the LA Times that HAD to have been from the same group of people. Even mentioned one of the people being a woman who had just had a C section. That one was about one of the nurses. Single mother of 5, called her kids to say goodby. All came out OK in the end :woot

Yup, all lumps .
Cap didnt say $1.99 . She said,$1,999
Nope on the coat. I have a hard time paying $20. for one and it better last a while. LOL
I wasnt singling Cap out to pick on I am an equal opportunity tease.
I wasnt worried about Robert having a gun because he isnt safe. I knew he was just as I knew I wasnt. Plenty of other reasons to worry.

I was trying to find that story for you.
Wishing, Im sorry. It was showing you and H2o gone . I thought you must of fell asleep. Then I came back to double check and you had posted and gone.
