[Granny Hatchet]

Grandma's Ginger/molasses Cookie Recipe ( I did remember )

3/4 cup Crisco ( I have tried butter and lard as well and just NOT the same/right)
1 cup white sugar

Cream them together

add 1 egg beaten and 1/4 cup of light molasses

2 cups of ap flour (NOT self rising)
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons of baking SODA
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of both ground ginger and ground cloves.

mix WELL

roll into small balls and then dip/roll in white sugar

bake in moderate oven (350*) for 9 to 15 minutes depending on size and how crisp of a cookie you like.

IF YOU HAVE A 6 QUART KITCHEN-AID MIXER you can do a triple batch no problems

yield (for me) about 4 dozen cookies for a single batch.

These are very good. I enjoy them w/ coffee for breakfast . I dunk them.

Some of these are very nice and go for a lot of $$. I was trying to find a pic like the ones the neighbor's have. It's already set up... just Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus, with a donkey. But the donkey doesn't light up any more. I have been tempted to offer hubs' services to fix it. I see it every time I drive into the neighborhood, 17 yrs now. Wouldn't be Christmas without it! When it stops raining, I will run down and get a picture.
