I assume you are aware that a fireplace is about the worst way to heat a house, most of the heat goes up the chimney and as the fire dies out cold air comes down.

I guess fireplace is the wrong word. Most a Wood Burning stove. We may not even get electric hooked up except for maybe some solar panels.
