What did you tell them ? I think he will be the best dog you ever had. He has had time to get out and kill chickens if he wanted to and he stayed right where you put him.
He would be on a long lead for quite a while ideally, and you carefully observing his reaction to livestock. Any kind of instinctive movements toward the animals to be corrected strongly. Also have him on a lead and get the kids to run, yell, wrestle etc. To check his reaction in a controlled setting. The rescue messaged and they want me to foster Hank. Maybe he should just be my lgd?
good ideas . I have seen the look in that dogs eyes. I dont think he has a mean bone in his body. Maybe Camping can bring the video over here.He would be on a long lead for quite a while ideally, and you carefully observing his reaction to livestock. I understand.I told them no. We just can’t have a pit bull on the property, no matter how loudly I call him a cur. DH was against it. I know he’d be a great dog, but we can’t have another pup inside and we can’t keep him outside. I’m going to share him on fb to try and get a foster, at least. And now I’m going to drive to town so I can cry and DH won’t see it.
I really, really hate saying no.
