Granny's gone and done it again

You are NOT going to get botulism. More likely salmonella or ecoli, but if you cook your food well in the first place, it won't be a problem and all you have to worry about is mold, which is usually not fatal. Botulism is... but at least you don't have to worry about barfing when you're dead.

All this probably isn't very reassuring.

 Don't you CHEW? :sick

The only thing I can think is Tom had food in his stomach that could not possibly been there for 12 hrs. Like he ate something early in the morning that was completely undigested... which would mean it wouldn't be in his sml intest. This is basic stuff and I am very confused about what they are saying and expecting. Maybe I just don't understand the scope of the test.

You are going to have to micromanage NotNancy.
Do this, do that, don't do that! Do this again!
well am I gonna get samonella or ecoli ? No, not reassuring. LOL
Are you saying that in order for him to have undigested food in his stomach he ate less then 12 hrs beforehand ? He swears he didnt eat anything. They want his stomach empty but not necessarily the intestines . It IS the SMALL intestines they need to see.

Thank you on the shrooms ! They will go to the freezer tomorrow . What is a stick vac and its for bare floors ?
and yes, morons . He was 12 hrs fasting. They said his stomach was full of food and liquids. I asked a couple times about something making it move slow.
I guess I should get him started w/ hematology. His bowel movements has changed recently. He has pooped twice since the first test. I will start him fasting earlier then they said to. around noon maybe ?
I guess so. I think their expectation for 12 hrs is not reasonable. People vary a lot on how fast it takes the food to move through. A virus, for example, can slow thing down considerably.

Sigh, Wishing, everyone is gone. I guess we can move this convo to a pm so we can gossip about everyone now.
Or so I can curse and call the folks at the dr office something much worse than morons.
Was anyone working with Tom for that test actually a DOCTOR?
Yes, on the hematology!!!

Well then 12 hrs is not going to work for everyone.

The one reading the test/pictures was the same dr that did the upper and lower. He stopped looking because he seen all the food. So according to your research how long does he need to be fasting in order to visualize the small intestines ?

You can't say. If he truly didn't eat anything, then he has other problems. The fact that they didn't believe you and look for the reason he still had food in his intestines is the big problem. Maybe you can clear this up with them before you try the test again and see if they have any ideas. Robert says he didn't eat, so if he wasn't eating something stashed in his room, he's got some other problem. Dr should take what you say seriously and not just dismiss you. Malpractice! (and if we were in pm, I would be saying worse than that!)

the first test they did required him to be completely empty and he was. That was all clear liquids and poop meds one day before.
I know for fact something was wrong w/ his stomach yesterday because it sounded like a wounded bear all day and that was from across the room.

That's my point! Mom was supposed to drink that sludge to clean her out for colonoscopy. She couldn't do it. Kept throwing it up. Turns out the tumor (that they didn't know she had) had completely blocked her. Emergency surgery required... so she could live for the cancer to kill her later. :hmm
Dr should be looking at the whole person, not just his gut for this single test. Why does he have food in here? .... hmmm? At least spend 5 minutes thinking about it.

Get Tom some prune juice for the weekend. That will keep things moving along. ;)
