Granny's gone and done it again

Why are the skies blue? What is this madness? There a strange big bright light up there too!

I’m kind of cursing that I’m stuck here at work working on payroll. And then I realize we need the money. And sadness.

Bright side. Sam laid an egg yesterday! My old Easter egger or sketchy glory...two more months and she’ll be four. We actually got four eggs yesterday! Not bad for my aging flock. (Buffy is a year old, everyone else is almost four, except Bucky who will never lay for obvious reasons and he’s the baby at 7 months)

Hard to judge activity levels post time change since they’re still half asleep in the morning and it was rainy yesterday so they tucked themselves in early but...everyone is roosting and looking good. View attachment 1699389
Woot!:woot Good on more egg laying! I got a turkey egg while it was still warm today! CLs laid 3 eggs, saw 3 in the Tolbunt nest as well. Have not been out to check the other chickens yet. :yesss:

thanks. Nugget s going to be huge. I have said that all along. Shadow is so happy w/ the tree. I wish it was taller. Its not staying there. We will pit it in front of the windows. I had to take the first one back. Missing parts and used ! Had some nails stuck in it and frizzled out. Robert put it together last night and showed it to me this am. I said nope, take it back apart. Thing could have fleas or illness.
Cap, I think I drank your golightly :rant

I have 2 and a half sides of the goat pasture done as far as brush removal. Planning to put a small goat shed down in the corner towards Turkey Town. So they can go in if it rains. They hate getting wet. Got a good pile of brush and big branch sections for the burn pile. I wanted to clear a big area for a burn pile in the woods, but hubby was against it. So i guess we stick with the existing burn piles.

We have owls here that hoot during the day! Hooting right now!
Owls are most often seen and heard during the night, because they are nocturnal. That means they're active at night and sleep during the day.

However, some owls, such as the pygmy owl, are active at twilight. And if you see or hear an owl during the day, it means that you are likely encountering a diurnal (daytime) owl that sleeps at night just like we do—two diurnal owls are the burrowing owl and the short-eared owl.

The Tawny Owl is a widespread and common species throughout much othe UK, where it is normally considered to be a predominantly nocturnal species.

Recently though, I’ve been hearing Tawny Owls calling quite frequently during daylight hours. It often occurs between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm, and often takes place in bright sunshine.

Most probably there is a nest nearby with newly fledged young: owls sometimes call in the day if they feel their young are threatened, and a hunting parent may sometimes call to its partner who is guarding the nest.
