Granny's gone and done it again

Pam, I just added you to orpington page. What do you think of his birds? Close enough to drive to.
We have been since November having issues with the hot water heater and an odor we could not trace. Found the source the other day. It is going to make us rip out enough walls and cabinets that I am getting my wish on the laundry room. The hot water line to the washer was sliced and was leaking.
We had to empty a cabinet filled with canned goods and then rip out the cabinet. Found a major puddle underneath. Cabinet fell apart once removed. Then the kitchen side of the wall collapsed. Damage is extensive. I have pictures of everything we are seeing and finding.
We also found there was a bare wire not 3 inches from the leak. Luckily it was a line we had the breaker shut off because of issues. I don't play with electric. That I leave to the professionals. So when the breaker kept tripping we just left it off and didn't use those outlets.
So now when Bob gets home we get to go to our insurance agent and find out if we are covered or not. If not covered we will patch and repair and be done with it. If covered I will be finding out if they want to total out the place. Since it all started after the 56 hours of no power last November.
Wow. Total out the house? That seems extreme.

Sorry to hear about this! Lucky you didn't have a fire!

Well, this is the 4th leak and wire issue we have found. Gonna cost them about 5 grand to repair the damage. I will also force them to cover the rewiring as we had an electrical fire at our last place. And this place has several of the same issues.

So they can spend the money to rewire the house and make the other repairs or they can total this place and not have to worry if it burns down.

Sounds bad. Was it build to code? What year was it built?
I assume you are buying the house. Laundry is an item the kids should and can do. Having a separate laundry room would be great. When does your husband come home.

yes, we are buying it. The plan was to build a new house at the other end and tear this down. It is a '99 single wide. So it is about done. When we purchased we were told they gutted and redid the entire trailer. They lied. So we may be even able to get a lawyer involved for the misrepresentation.
This weekend he comes home. He is hoping Friday, but it could be Sunday. Not surers exactly, but Monday will be insurance and lawyers
