You can drive a good long while in the daytime with the battery charged and a non functional alternator. Family camping trip when I was a teenager, alternator crapped out in St. George, Utah on the way south from Yellowstone. Couldn't get the part. Electric windows set and not adjusted, no A/C, quick charged the battery every who knows how many miles through Las Vegas and back to south of Los Angeles. Similar thing coming south from S.F. visiting my aunt with my mother. At night. Lights began to fade, still had gas. Managed to get to a gas station before the battery was totally drained. Regulator in the alternator shot. Quick charged the battery and drove the rest of the way home.I went to go to Rural King, but the new battery is dead. Hubby charged it, i took it to Walmart. They say it is fine.![]()
Beat me to it!Walmart didn't say if your alternator was out?
