Japanese knotwood is good for Lyme.

Japanese knotweed? How is it used? It is a royal PITA invasive here. You can not pull it up, it breaks just below the surface and is right back out the next day. I had some where I had the shovel all the way in and got the root. I think it took about 3 days for the first shoot to come back up

Don't use that disgusting lamp oil, use liquid paraffin. If you can't find it at a regular store, look at a boating store like West Marine. You can buy it online.

Check the laws in your state. If it isn't a "boundary tree" (legal definition differs by state) you likely can legally cut off every branch where it crosses the property line.
