Granny's gone and done it again

Soooo...to bring anyone who cares up to date on my saga....

In June I lost 4 hens. Then in August, I had a hen go broody and I thought I'd get some hatching eggs and she could raise my replacements.

The eggs were held up in the mail (and badly mistreated), and by the time they got here, Surly wasn't broody anymore. So I bought an incubator, but it was clear by the end of week two that I only had one viable egg, but it seemed strong, so I ran out to Wilco and bought 3 chicks to help it hatch and to be brooder mates.

Turns out I have 2 cockerels. Haven't had good luck with cockerels in the past, roosters neither. But, the one I hatched is one of the cockerels and I'm over the moon over him. The other one is a beautiful Lavender Orpington, and with the 2 LO pullets I'd like to get more of those. They are beautiful.

So, I'm attempting to keep two cockerels. They are both in that pesky hormonal stage and I've had to give each their own coop and run away from the girls. I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm reading everything I can on BYC about them, and I'm open to all suggestions, except culling. I'm pretty committed to keeping both, even if it's in a bachelor pad.

I can talk about my dog and cats separately if anyone is interested. They are all rescues. :love

Well I can drop off Wagoner an Nostril Dumas off anytime after 2:30 pm central time on weds. There is a grain elevator in town BUT is now private owned. They will weigh both loaded and empty and the charge is 5 bucks a crack. Which I don't think is unreasonable.

Erv stopped in for a bit and still want's me to find him a couple head (NOPE at least NOT until your wife approves)

Spent a couple hours working over in apt 34 hopefully it will be ready by this weekend. Had to change the hinges on the new fridge for over there so the doors opened right way for the placement.

All the evidence of canning are put away and jars labeled and down in the basement. The 5 quart bags of chicken meat that was frozen has now been properly bagged and vacuumed sealed and in the garage freezer.

Couple loads of laundry done.

I have 5 cats. 3 inside and 2 out. 3 dogs and a million guppies it seems like.
My cats are the opposite. 2 very spoiled indoor cats, and 3 that live in DH's shop. They belonged to a neighbor who passed away 3 years ago. His wife abandoned the kitties. 😢 So I've been feeding them, but they can't come in because they fight with my cat.
