Hey Val. I’m in Louisiana and just sold off my farm. I still have a husband, two kids, two dogs, two cats, two hermit crabs, and a squirrel. I’m hoping to get chickens again within the year. My husband moved for a new job at the end of October. I stayed at my current job and kept the kids in school; two days before Christmas we moved up to join him. I’m still working in the Cajun part of the state and tying up loose ends on the move. By the end of this month I’ll join them up in the yankee part of the state for good.

Josie is my soul dog and travel companion. She was a stone-cold chicken killer as a puppy, but we managed to outgrow it. I adopted her at 8wks old from a rescue in Texas. She sits in the car like a person.

My kids are 11yo girl and 7yo boy. Here at granny’s we call my son Bubba. They have literally watched him grow as he was just a toddler when joined up.

Morning all. I feel just bad enough to drag around the house, not bad enough for urgent care. I would say I have the flu but my fever is low and I’m not achey. Just tired, coughing and sneezing, and low fever. Glands are swollen and painful, and my throat is sore when I cough but not when I eat or drink.

Hope you are better soon! Do go to urgent care if you get worse. there's nasty virus going around.

My doctor said "I shouldn't take cough syrup, because coughing up flem is natures way of removing toxins from the body" I think he's a quack! Should I post this on the duck and geese forum instead? just asking.

He's probably right, but we just want to feel better, right? I'm all about taking meds so I can breath and stop coughing.

Ugh I know! I may have to bottle feed these newborns. Mom wants nothing to do with them this morning and even butted them. I pinned her and let the babies nurse.

We’re now living in “Texarkana” in a region some people call “east Dallas.” They make their jambalaya from a box mix.

It’s not a historical or civil war thing. Just an imaginary divide. In southwest Louisiana my kids got a week off school for Mardi Gras. I don’t think they’ll get a single day where we live now. There are 3-4 areas of the state with (to us) vastly different cultures. We live up in the bland part now.
