I just learned a friend of mine lost her dad. He was almost 99.

Keep checking them. Do they have a nice place to dust bathe? If you have any wood ash from a fire place, you can mix that into the dirt where they bathe. Supposed to help get rid of the bugs. Try to get some poultry dust to put on them.

He was in a nursing home for years and her mom in a different one. She said her mom was mean to him but she would go take them both out pretty regular. Her mom passed about a yr ago I think and not too long ago she took him out and never took him back.

I got the roof on the coop, 63° here today and windy. Not bad for February!
I have a couple more boards to put on the edges of the roof.

Diatomaceous earth does not work.

It's strange, I've seen people on here say it's God's gift to the chicken world yet others say it ain't worth beans. I've never tried it myself so I don't have an opinion.

It's great for keeping ants out of the chicken water! Sprinkle a line around the bowl and they won't cross it.
I think it might help as a preventative, but once they have mites, you usually need something stronger.

My hands have hard skin. I get no blisters, from my broom or anything except a burn.
