Granny's gone and done it again

That's great, she would die in the wild. I almost lost a parrotlet that got out of his cage outdoors! But I managed to get him to come to me, he flew down out of the tree.
The parakeet is doing great, but she sleeps a lot. Maybe she has been lost longer than I thought. No signs up in the neighborhood, no lost & found craigslist post. Lupin would be thrilled to have her stay. He has been making the cutest little trills at her. She stays on her perch closest to his cage, but she doesn't respond and tends to doze off. Poor thing.

Idk, I have not been out today. I drove all over the property yesterday looking and no feathers or anything. I think it must be a fox. Won't be letting any birds out any time soon.
Sorry to hear that. You need a game cam!

Put the orchids back outside today. They’ve come a long way since February! Those are the original 9.

WOW! Very nice. I think you have fallen victim to orchid math!

I did find the Polish hen, but not the Jubilee Orpington.

Howdy!

We had a little excitement this evening.
#1 and I were getting breakfast for dinner cooked up, and we both saw this glowing white bird fly into the backyard and land in a tree. I thought it was some sort of albino dove or something. #1 went out to see and it was a parakeet! She's mostly white with some blue around her neck and on her rump. the blue is what made her "glow" in the orange light (sun setting plus smoke). She's pretty tame and flew over to #1, but didn't quite trust him enough to get on his finger. I tried, and she came for me, and we got her into a cage that I amazingly just happened to have on the front porch. She's all set up in #2's bedroom next to Lupin, our old boy keet. He's very excited to have company since #2 left for school. That's why I had the other cage... got it out of the barn at the farm to use to get Lupin out where we all spend most of our time and to deep clean the cage he's in now.
Lupin is singing and showing off for the new girl. She is very tired. Gobbled down some seed and is having a snooze.
I'm almost hoping no one is looking for her, but she's so friendly, I imagine they are missing her. Lupin has been missing #2 and all the music they played together... it's nice he has a companion other than the one in his mirror!
Wonder if she is loose because of the fires? 😵 Sure hope she gets back to her family safely. This is an amazing story! That you just happened to see her ... and you just happened to have an empty cage hsndy .... and you just happen to have another parakeet to keep her company! Coinkadink? Sure, whatever! 😆

Gotta take the feeder out of the brooder.. I have a couple just tossing food left and right.
I started mixing the crumbles with water. Less waste that way. But they tend to mash it down and then they seem to think it's gone. So I just stir it up again.
