Granny's gone and done it again

Got another big chunk of weed madness taken care of...
SP is acting goofy for sure. If you remember, I said she had buried her first clutch of 10 eggs down in the shavings.. covered them right up she did.. Then she was making two clutches out of her 7 eggs. I put a basket of shavings and fresh smelling hay in the barrel and put all the eggs in it.. hoping she would like the 'nest'. Well, she took 3 eggs out of the basket and left them in the barrel. Hasn't laid another egg so I thought she was upset that I put Mollie in with her and Henri.. but they are doing just fine together.. Well, I robbed the eggs this morning when I was cleaning the barrel and putting in new shavings and hay, and boy did SP have a fit.. she dumped over the basket looking for her eggs.. was looking high and low in and around the barrel for her eggs. I felt bad for her, so I stuck them back in the barrel sans basket. Lo and behold, she's in sitting on her prizes. She's not acting bishy or growly.. but hooo boy was she upset her eggs disappeared. Maybe this time she'll sit them until they hatch.

So... are you a morning person?

The feathers might have been bent, maybe picked at, while they were coming in. Hopefully when those molt, the new feathers will grow in the right direction.

Chickens are magic!

It looks like only one side has the problem.

Boy, around here there would be a lawsuit against any business without a ramp.
But you did it!!! :highfive:

Yes I am!

Ditto for here @CapricornFarm. It's one of those days where you can say, yep, it's September. Time to get busy.

So a big order going into the local hardware store. New door for our shop, Wood for a new wall in my coop to house the bachelors this winter and be converted to a broody coop in the spring. I figure we can get the three outdoor projects, enlarging one of the doors to our barn to better facilitate our tractor, enlarging the shop door and putting up the new wall can get done this month if we are lucky and diligent. Lucky if the weather holds and well, the diligent part means lighting a fire under our backsides.

One of the treats of getting older is you get stuck in low power and you have to grind the gears a bit to kick up the speed on occasion.

Hope y'all are having a great day,

@Granny Hatchet, make sure they are flipping the bill for the re-draw and not trying to sneak it through on your insurance/medicare.
