Granny's gone and done it again

Good morning campers!

Bright haze here this morning. I almost wish for rain so the air would get cleaned up.

@CapricornFarm and all you other happy project DIY-ers out there, myself included. I had a thought this morning that I thought I would pass on.

Best buy a stockpile of lumber and plywood now. With the hurricanes and forest fires, there is going to be shortage of building materials for sure thanks the decreased production due to the corona virus. What will be available will have a higher price attached to it. I've seen that happen before and we were unable to get 4 X 4s last week due to a shortage. Our local lumber yard was having a time trying to find them. We wound up having to screw 2 X 4s together to make a post.

Just a heads up kind of idea.

Good point, Becky! The lumber I mostly buy is milled locally. But demand sure can drive prices up. However, if I bought a big pile of wood hubby might have a heart attack! The impending visit of our son and his family already has hubby slightly crazy.

My garden did terrible also. Except for pie pumpkins and butternut squash which were bumper crops. Barely enough tomatoes for BLTs and two quarts that I put in the freezer. Not enough to even warrant canning them.

I did get a fairly decent crop of Pole Beans that I put in the freezer for roasting.

I've been slowly stocking up on canned goods since January. I don't have nearly as much on hand as I would like to see us through the winter without having to venture out in cold and snow for groceries.

Since I can't count 100% on my garden, store canned goods are plan B. Frankly I don't know how the Amish do it, relying solely on what they grow both for meat and veggies.

I see the amish here at wal marts. They have money up the butt. They keep our banks happy.
I was present for the birth of one of their babys. I went and got the mid wife for her. I didnt see her give birth but I seen the baby after. One of their babys got sick and I talked them into getting shots for them and took them to welfare to get insurance. We used to go yard selling together. We were friends . The day came where we werent any more.

A load of hay came by here and he was flying He lost 3 bales in my yard. I went and got it and stacked it up. Well, next day he comes down the road looking for it was jumping up and down hollering come here and I guess he didnt hear me. I felt awful. I should of left it where it lay. Well, I was telling my amish friend about this and how I felt and he said God provided for you. That just didnt set well w/ me.
