Sweet. Sounds like she looked like a smooth Collie. You miss her. Got pics?

She was a bit beefier than a smooth collie. Some people recognized the boxer right away, others saw collie.
It was way before digital cameras. Not sure where a pic might be. Probably up at the farm in the barn.

How did you break them of that bad habit, Verna?

I ground up a bunch of old egg shells, and poured it all over their food in the feeding trough. They were low on calcium. Dang layer feed evidently did not have it like it said. Now I have happy hens, that give me good eggs.

Quail are silly, just because you offer it freely, does not mean they will eat it. When you put it on top of their food, they gobble it down.

Yes, I run it through a coffee mill. What is good for chickens, is way too big for quail.
