So was my dad.

My dad left before I turned 9. Didn't see him again until I was almost legal. Then he broke my only rule, so last time I saw him, he was in a nursing home.

geez, even sounds like my dad. I was 2 and I seen him a few times growing up but he didnt contact me til I turned 18 so he didnt have to pay back support. What rule did you have ?

Here you pay whether you see the kids or not. And if you are on welfare the state will track you down.

What is your only rule?

I was 17. My rule was not to contact me when he was drunk or High. He called me, and after a moment or two, I asked him, "dad are you high?" He admitted he was. Calmly, I asked, "Are you drunk?" He said yes. I reminded him of what I asked and he had agreed to, and told him to never call me again.
