Everything has changed. When I grew up in Denver, we used to drive an hour or more past fields and farms to get to the mountains. Same with heading east, toward Kansas. Last time I was there, it was wall to wall city all the way up to and into the mountains. It's city as far as the eye can see now, probably even out to the airport, which used to be in the middle of nowhere. There isn't any nowhere any more.

Must be hard on the wildlife.

They are taking a hearing test, then probably put a tube back in my ear. That usually works until about a year after it falls out.

Yikes. They’re delaying when they expect the winds to hit us now - so I have power this am yay bud for how long...

Ours is back on! Was not a planned outage, so was probably from the wind. It's still blowing, not quite as bad as this morning, thankfully.

It's California! Some of the problem is also the power companies themselves. Decades of paying off investors and executive bonuses rather than spending on infrastructure upkeep and modernization. Playing catch up now, and in drought conditions. Bad combo.

Our Sammy is a crazy barker (correction, WAS). We've fixed it with a couple empty soda cans with dried beans inside, taped shut. When he really gets going we shake one at him. If he keeps barking, we throw it at him. The intention is not to hit him, but to distract and startle him. That's Red Light. As soon as he's quiet, we praise. That's Green Light. Have several cans, it takes some repeating at first! Note: he is 3 years old. Also, we did bean him with the can once by accident. He kind of ran into it. But it's lightweight, it didn't hurt him. It did make the sound more effective afterward, but we don't advocate hitting the dog with the can on purpose. Anyway now he barks a few times to alert, as a good dog should, instead of screaming hysterically at every little sound.

It's way too far for me to throw something. And if I am up in the back and close enough, I use the hose! Sudden rain shower will distract him from those delicious kitties. Mostly treats work best. He comes when I call and gets a treat. I think he might be losing his hearing though. At least on one side. He can't tell where a noise comes from any more.

I can't remember the last time I could tell where a noise was coming from. So, I can understand your puppy.

Feeling sort of off today, just tired and grumpy. My white Crested black pullet tried to land on me today. I need to start carrying treats for her.
And the Candy corn polish rooster flogged me again today. Next time he goes in rooster jail. He's sneaky, came up behind me.

Tomorrow I am taking the truck to get new tires and a CD player from Santa! Which means I am going to be shopping in Lynchburg. That's where the big pet store is. Sadly my friend Sonja can't go because she is waiting for her goats to kid.
