Granny's gone and done it again

Sounds like she's doing that on her own.

Sometimes the threat of more jail time will motivate them to try rehab. Success rates are very low, though. Person has to really want to get healthy, and even then it's incredibly hard. And expensive.
I know. My daughter is mentally/ emotionally ill. Drugs, alcohol and jail have all been part of her journey. She's finally getting some stability, but it hasn't been because anybody threw her in jail whenever she had problems. If someone had tried something besides jail 30 years ago, maybe she would have had a different life, a different journey, a different story. And maybe she'd be raising her own kids, instead of me and strangers doing it. Jail isn't an answer, is all I'm saying.

That's so sad. It's a hard road for anyone. I worked in a juvenile rehab as a teacher. All serious offenders, these kids chose 18 month rehab program over 3 to 5 years incarcerated. Like I said, it's the threat of more jail that can be motivating. These kids got therapy, mental health and medical help, and worked toward high school diplomas. There are too few of these types of programs, but I will say, not a single kid would have stayed and been compliant without the threat of serious jail time.

How many of them came from broken homes or abusive parents ? I always want to blame the parents but then I would need to blame myself wouldnt I ?
