See, this is what I mean, DL. You are like a spreadsheet and remember all these stats about all these different breeds. I'm just all about behavior and communication and motives and motivating and stuff, but stats leave me cold. My dogs talk to me, I always know what they want, but this kind of stuff? Fuhgettaboutit. You have a real gift. I mean, I think mine's a gift, too, it's just different. Appreciate what you have. It's rare.

haha, I remember lots of things, I know what i want, too. A 15-17 inch dog. I can tell you what breeds of dogs fall into that catagory. I am also REALLY good at guess the pure breed (mutts are hard but I usually get close), and off the top of my head I can tell you specific breed traits about several different breeds.

I also know a great deal about training and behavior, to top all of that.. heh

I don't think his mama was a pure shih zu. She was too large. Mix of some sort. Poor thing. Made me sick to think how she felt under all those mats.

I wouldn't be surprised if papa was part poodle. Bandit has the deep chest and long legs, narrow snout. Maybe a bird dog of some sort?

In the U.S. there are three sizes of poodles, toy, mini, and standard

in Europe they have four, toy, mini, moyen, and standard. Moyen is the size between mini and standard. In the U.S. though moyens are just small standard poodles..

Moyen sounds Whippet sized. It's a good size. I think a Whippet is my next dog... some day. They are supposed to be calm, don't bark much, and have a lovely short coat. I have never paid for a dog, other than an adoption fee. Finding a breeder and choosing a pup will be new for me. And I will take my time and find exactly what I want. It will fit into our lives well.
