Horses also. There is a sensory gland called the flehmen gland under the upper lip that allows them to scent whether the female is in heat. The animal is flehmening when they do that.

I knew there was a "fancy/techinal" term but spelling is NOT my forte and then I would have to explain what it meant anyway.
