My Nancy has one in a bowl with no heater and she uses bottled water when she changes their water. I dont know if thats something possible for you or not. I would at least draw the water up in an empty milk carton maybe and let it sit overnight with your next one. Keeping the lid off so the chlorine can evaporate.
