Granny's gone and done it again

How did you get better?
Um. My bipolar journey has not been a pretty or pleasant one. But I am now on meds that stabilize me, and have been for about 20 years.

Bottom line, I got better when I went to my doctor and said. "Something's not right. I'm miserable and I need help. Now. Today. Right this minute."

If you (or someone you know) have mood swings that seem extreme to you, run, don't walk, to your medical professional and discuss it with him/her. If you are a minor, talk to your parents. If they don't listen or don't get it, talk to your school nurse. If you feel desperately in need to talk to SOMEONE, call the Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-HELP (8255). There is help! You are not alone! You are not a bad person and there is not something "wrong" with you, any more than there is something bad or wrong with having diabetes or heart disease. Help is available 24/7.
