We live on the Atlantic flyway for wild birds. Thousands come by twice a year. They carry pests. This year the mites are terrible. Mites can actually suck so much blood out of the birds that they die! So I wash all the chickens in a coop, spray the coop inside and out and give the birds supplements. Repeat in 10 to 14 days to kill any bugs that have hatched from eggs. It's awful. But the chickens do look so much better clean. Those bugs make you very itchy! So they must feel better.

Those tiny bugs are remarkably tough! Hard to get rid of. And I have so many birds. In this heat and humidity it kills me to spend a lot of time outdoors.

Yeah, mites are nasty! Although I never dealt with it yet, not even with the broody. Pretty lucky in that sense, although I always keep permethrin dust on hand.

Finally talked to the dr. There was a bad wreck there yesterday that caused them to lose electric. Dr sezs I have to be seen so wednesday will be the first time I can get in. Tom has an appt that day w/ the same person.
