We have 10 coturnix quail. They are so easy to take care of!What kind of quail are those?
I think you will like them. We free feed (same with chickens). 10 quails eat 1 1/2 to 2 cups of feed a day. We feed gamebird feed up to 3-4 weeks old and switch to 20% chick grower. We always have oyster shells and small pieces of egg shells on the side. I refill the calcium about once every two weeks. Their waterer is scrubbed and refilled every week. They are fed daily, but do not need to, a large feeder can last them a few days. I like to feed them through hand feeding (to make them friendly). They require about 1 square feet each and some even say 1/2 square feet. I keep my 10 in a fully predator proofed 6 feet by 8 feet pen. It certainly does not need to be that large. They have a 2 feet by 2 feet shelter (2 actually). They are super cute and easy to butcher (I have never, but have seen tutorials). The predator proofing and modifying the aviary took the longest time, but I LOVE them! They also mature much faster than chickens. They are cold and heat hardy. One of my chicks (2.5 weeks old) got frostbite on the very tip of his toe. Ended up being fine! I applied some neosporin, but after they are feathered out, they survive severe weather. What kind of quail are those?
