Yes! Are you saying that you have to commons (white) in the wall or that the hot wire (black) is using a white wire? You can use a tester to figure that out.
the hood itself needs to be hard wired except we were going to add a plug to it instead. The hood where you wire it up had 2 white and one black. My plug wire of course has the normal black white and green
