Morning y’all. @microchick I found my roosters!

Yours has some detail differences around the legs and the breast feathers but they are sure enough alike aren't they? May be because mine is cast aluminum and yours are cast iron? Or different molds were used?

I have to admit that I like the rust patina on them. If they were mine I'd have DH take a steel brush attachment on his hand grinder and buff them over with it to get rid of the paint and the crusty rust, then put a flat polycarbonate sealer on them and leave them natural.

I love the greater detail on them. Where did you find them? I know you mentioned it but I don't remember.

A mind is a terrible thing to waist, lol.

I’m thinking the same for them, a quick scrape to clean them up and then add a little verdigris patina.

I think I found them at some sort of city-wide sale? The kind with roadside booths. I was hoping for real chickens, and they were the closest I could find.

I’m working on plants today. I just washed this plant stand. It’s my favorite!

Ooh, I have an elephant planter too! I'll have to post a pic later tonight, we are headed to St Louis to put The Kid back on the bus back to the academy.

My husband told me that he made his cast back in high school and the original was a rest for an Iron that had legs on it so it would sit flat on a table. He said he bet the original had all the detail that yours has only it was lost in the sand mold he made.

If you use a wire brush be careful not to lose the detail along with the rust. DH suggests using paint remover and a paint brush to loosen the rust build up.
