Granny's gone and done it again

well, if anybody knows how to manage kids, when you're a kid yourself, let me know. theres a weird respect situation going on. they don't look at me like a manager, they kind of see me as one of them and I'm not. I'm more mature, and i'm more trained than they are. I have skills they don't have, and knowledge they don't have. i'm sick and tired of trying to get them to take me seriously. Its an issue my GM and my DM are working on with them but doesn't seem like we're moving in any sort of direction very fast

Herding cats. Believe me when I say I feel ya.

Past my pumpkin time too. Catch y’all later.

my "kids" are hard to wrangle sometimes. I have them wandering all over the store half the time! Tonight was kind of rough. I'm so ready for bed, tomorrow is a huge day. The cooperate trainer is coming in to kitchen test me, basicially quiz me on how the kitchen should run, temps for all the equip, how to prep food. Augh, plus I have the district trainer and the district manager coming in as well. I'll be under a lot of pressure.
You can do it!

So I started to say ... GirlChild, now living w bf 40 miles from me, had a sick cat to take to vet this morning. No gas, no money. So I went and got her and the cat, put a little gas in her car, snd took her to the vet then back home. When I got home i had to grab 15 doz eggs and rush them to the lady who distributes them for me and lives 20 miles the other way!. Got home, had to start on The Man's laundry. Three loads later, start spaghetti for dinner and I'm wondering, am I EVER gonna get to sit for five minutes today?! Answer: Nope! :gig
What I am afraid of, Is making a fool of myself and/or my kids not behaving. I have a bunch of 16 year olds who work there (nobody over 22 works in that store). They have short attention spans, and mouths that never stop blabbering. Plus their feelings get hurt easy, they're always on about something. I told them to stop yelling and rough-housing on the line today and they all tried to back talk me. Lol.

Other than that, I know my stuff. I recited it in my head my whole shift today.
No worries. Everyone knows you can't control a bunch of 16-yo babies. They are going to see if YOU know YOUR stuff. And of course you do. Just remember, you can't make children stop acting like children by acting like a child. Yelling won't help. Have a strategy. Who are the leaders? Pull them out, quietly. Make them sit down and ignore them for about 5 minutes. Then TALK to each of them, separarely, quietly. Ask them, do you want to work kere? Do you want to be on this team? If yes, then this behavior stops now. And tell them what it is. Yelling? Cussing.. Get a commitment. Fine. Thank you. You may go. Then carry on. Sorry, falling asleep. Anyway, You got this!
