Granny's gone and done it again

Almost makes me gag just looking at, but out of curiousity I had to see what it was and record my experience. They appeared to be sucking parasites.
In South Dakota during summer. The next time you’re in a field, stop and take a close look at a few of the grasshoppers you find there. Chances are great that you will see tiny, red mites on some of them. These Red Grasshopper Mites, close relatives of ticks and spiders, go through three stages: larva, nymph and adult. The larvae (6-legged) attach to the base of a grasshopper’s wings, where they suck the grasshopper’s blood. The nymphs and adults (both 8-legged) are free-living and feed on grasshopper eggs. Each Red Grasshopper Mite nymph requires more than two grasshopper eggs to become an adult. An adult male Red Grasshopper Mite requires three grasshopper eggs for reproducing, and each female, seven to eight eggs. After breeding, a female mite deposits up to 4,000 eggs. Entomologists believe that mites reduce grasshopper survival and reproduction dramatically.View attachment 3080227View attachment 3080229

Sorry to whoever posted it
I’m sure Twist wouldn’t mind. How ya feeling today?

I found a pair of alpacas for sale. Just don’t want to make impulsive decisions and end up with a problem. Doesn’t help knowing that my mom would go and pick them up ANY time. She really is obsessed 🤣

That’s good.

Not sure about that. I know Llamas do. Visited a few alpaca farms a while ago. They never tried to spit on me, but who knows what they’ll do when they see someone they don’t like. Yes, the shearing is a must. YouTube videos make it look easy, but I’m sure it’s not.

Will your mom do the shearing? You have school coming up soon.
