We've been paying about $45 for a face cord or what they call a rank in these parts. Would be $90 a cord by my reckoning. And that may or may not be delivered, and almost certainly (usually) not stacked even if it is delivered. However, I get mine from the sweetest old guy around, who not only delivers but also stacks it so neat and tight and pretty I can hardly bear to start unstacking it to bring some in the house to burn.

I've seen frost flowers here. Some days it looks like someone scattered little bits of tissue all over the forest! First time I saw them I called them "upcicles." Water gets squeezed up out of the ground and freezes like a very delicate icicle.Have you ever heard of a frost flower? Someone posted a pic on the random picture thread. I'd never heard of this. Really cool. No chance of having it here.

Sorry to hear.Sigh. We had GirlChild's cat put down today. Even after a round of meds, today he was sneezing blood. It was time, but it wasn't easy.
