Is the company doing that on purpose?

I doubt it. #1 said he saw a crew working close by on his way home from work. Power was on then for us, but that road leads up to dad's, so who knows.
My neighbor is on the war path. She set up a town hall meeting with reps from the power company at the Grange, end of next month. I can imagine how many irate calls they receive. I think they would fix the problem if they knew how.

Power grids are much more fragile than most people know. Good to be prepared to do without.

I got my electric bill yesterday. $240.00 crazy high thats just for one month.

Yeah, that is high. Ours is about that, and we really try to conserve. Furnace set at 60⁰ and vents are only open to 3 bedrooms.

well, Im all electric and my heat it on. I hope it wont go any higher but its getting colder now.

Put on some layers and and turn the thermostat down 5⁰, more at night when you're tucked up in bed. Will save you $$.

I keep my heat on 71 . Tom freezes worse then I do but when your on blood thinners thats just what happens.

He sleeps under 2 blankets now. Plus flannel PJs and sometimes he sleeps with winter gloves .

I think our last bill was about $140. We have all electric appliances but we heat mostly with wood with propane as a backup, and a couple of electric space heaters in the bedrooms, just for bedtime and early morning. This is a big ol' house and we mostly only heat the front room (with wood). We probably pay about $200 to $240 a year on wood.
