Granny's gone and done it again

@grannyhatchet, Good for you for raising Cain! You did exactly what you should have done.

If they were backed up due to emergencies, they should have come forward and explained it to you and given you the option of rescheduling.

Medical care sucks in this country. Scary since we have one of the best systems in the world, Makes you wonder what goes on in other countries!

I have the same test coming up thursday. With iv dye this time. Different hospital.

I'll be glad when the testing is all over and done with for you, Granny. That dye injection isn't bad but not something I would want to do every day.

Pssst....made me feel like I was gonna pee myself on the table...

We just got a winter storm watch issued for us for Thursday. NOAA is now saying HEAVY SNOW and DANGEROUS wind chills. No 'B' word yet, thank goodness. Guess heavy snow and dangerous wind chill is enough trauma.

We are in the southern part of the storm coming in. I don't think they are sure yet what is going to happen here. One service says 3-5 inches but NOAA isn't committing yet which makes me nervous.

They are calling for high winds and dangerous low temps and wind chills on it's heels. I hope we don't have a blizzard. I think I read where the last blizzard that hit Missouri was in 1928. So I guess we are over due.

It would be nice to have a white Christmas though. Tomorrow I'm going to batten down the coop and we are going to bring in firewood and stack it in the shop where we can get to it easily. DH put chains on the front wheels of the tractor and the pantry is stocked full as is the freezer.

Bringer on Mother nature. We are ready.
I would gladly trade your blizzard for one of my earthquakes!

I'm pretty sure we have enough food to survive for well over a year if necessary. If we would ever get in a pinch, I'm sure our neighbors would be quick to pitch in and be of service, it's just how we treat/relate to each other. If they were ever in a pinch for food we would open our food stores to them willingly, because how could we be fulfilled/satisfied if our neighbors were starving.
We do too.

So far, knock hard on wood, mine leave them alone. I've watched them stand over a dying mouse with their heads cocked making little alarm sounds, me ready to tackle anyone that grabs the mouse. But they walk away from them. I don't know if they somehow sense that something ain't 'right' about them or what.

I also police the area regularly. The Tin Cat bait holders secure latch and work on a 'teeter totter' method where the mouse enters through a little opening, runs up the ramp, the ramp goes down and they can only go one way, into the trap. Can't exit once they are in. The bait is in the holding area so once they eat it they can't get back into the coop.

The trap is then carried out to the road where I open it near our garbage dumpster or in the road. Mice leave but don't survive.

I have mine bungee corded just to make sure no accidents happen.

So sorry you lost a bird to poison. I live in fear of that but there aren't any options left for us. The shed needs replaced. But even in the second room we put in without inner walls the Danged mice found a crack in the floor and tunneled in. I am still filling cracks with concrete patch. It's a never ending battle.

One of our older dogs got ahold of one of our tom cat bait holders and tried to chew her way into it. She didn't. It lived up to it's guarantee but we still had to treat her with vitamin K after doing the wonderful peroxide induced Mount Vesuvius imitation. Not pleasant for anyone involved and especially not for her.

I learned to get crafty with them after that.
Those traps! The best. They're what I used.

Forgot to say, I saw nice looking hams at walmart for .98 c a lb. It was the gold wrapped ones. Made me sad to not buy one because that much meat would last a very long time here.
I dont need to leave til 1:30 . The test is at 4 but I have to be there 2 hrs. early to drink contrast.
Thanks blue for thinking of me.
I did, too! Hope all went well. I have some catching up to do.

We can do without a bad storm too. Especially with a power outage! We at least have a generator since i bought one.

Morning all!

Granny, tell Robert he jinxed me. I wasn't around yesterday. Got up with my left eye bothering me. Felt like I was getting a sty but couldn't see anything. Eye was burning, dry, then tearing and running. Used moisturizing drops all day and declared defeat in the afternoon and had my husband break out the exam equipment and check it for me.

Diagnosis? Clogged Meibomian gland. Sigh, So I'm doing the same thing Robert is plus squirting drops in my eye three times a day. It feels better today thank goodness.

Hope Robert's are feeling better as well.

I hear we have a major winter storm heading for us with wind chills in the severe range and blizzard like conditions. Also something like up to 12 inches of snow. I mean I like the idea of a white Christmas (my dad's favorite song. He would sing along with it and tears would roll down his cheeks) but really?

One of my water heaters took a dive so I need to fix that and hang some wind break plastic. Fun Fun in 35 degree temps.
MC, that's awful! First your eye, then your water heater, and then the wx that's moving in! Take care! :hugs
