Granny's gone and done it again

My Gracie dog is the BEST! Over the last couple of hours she has brought in five eggs from a hidden nest outside! She only broke two of them and one was my fault. She tried to give it to me but I wasn't ready to accept it so I dropped it on the floor. And she has done this in the raging blizzard! :love She even snarled at Sammy when he tried to take it or see what she had. TheMan tried to track her to see where she was getting them from, but the blowing snow hid her trail until the very last one.

I love her so much! :hugs

Wow, that is a good dog!

Just came in from taking care of the birds. They are doing okay considering the temp outside is -9° and the wind chill is -33°. Wind gusts to 30 The bantams are running around on the floor being bantams and the Fayoumis came down off the roof long enough to get a bite of bread and were right back on the roosts, cuddled up to their best bud with their feathers fluffed around their toesies. The coop is surprisingly snug feeling but my water heaters aren't keeping up. Thin shell of ice on both of the water bowls they are supposed to be keeping melted, sigh. Only three days of this nonsense.

I read that the temps by New Years are supposed to be up in the high 40s-50. Those temps I can live with.

I made a crock pot full of veggie/beef soup for DH. Stil have to get mine do yet. I can't eat regular veggie soup without seeding the tomatoes first. Just too much work IMHO. I have used V8 along with tomato sauce with good results but I'm thinking of making 12 bean soup for myself tomorrow.

Stay warm everyone.

I have a sinus headache that the nets pot isn’t getting rid of. Guess I will take more Advil. I am taking Advil every day. Not good.
Ahhhh neti pot. The origin of water boarding. I use a squeeze bottle to do mine. Great at getting rid of post nasal drip but not much good for sinus headaches for me either, H2.

Can't do Advil but Tylenol and Utram are my friends, especially when my neck is bothering me....like now. Hope you feel better. Sinus headaches are the pits.

Yeah, @CapricornFarm we can go through a lot of wood during this kind of weather. Amish are noted builders, the one who built our house needs to quit building houses and stick to cabinets. Not enough insulation in places. We insulated the 80 feet facing North almost 10 years ago now. Really ,made a big difference. Plus we are using deadfall wood and dead standing for our heating wood. It does a good job but we tend to use a bit more as a result.

When we go walking in the timber this time of the year it's amazing how much wood is on the ground waiting for us. Unfortunately we will forget where it is when the spring growth covers it all up.

Even here in Texas, we're getting cold weather. Woke up to 17F and going down all day and night to about 9F tomorrow morning. Wind is blowing about 30 to 40 mph. Had a dusting of snow but not expected to get more. That's miserable for Texas.
If I would move to Texas I would do so with the intention of getting away from the cold. I would be quite dissappointed with such cold temperatures.
