If you look at the property lines, you can see much larger parcels all around our little neighborhood. Lot of them are vineyards now.

That sounds nice. Ya know I planted grapes here and they wont grow or die.

That is SO SCARY!!! My BIL almost died because of that. A fire started in his car as he was going down the road, smoke was coming out the back. He didn't know it. Another car came up beside him and honked so he rolled down his power window. They told him what they saw so he pulled over. And just as he reached out the door to open it from the outside, flames shot out of the steering wheel! He jumped out and ran away from the car, and seconds later it went up in flames. If he hadn't rolled the window down ... if those people hadn't flagged him ... <shudder>

Wow! Did they find out what caused the problem?

You've got too much clay. We've got it here too. You should see how much work they do to the fields with a lot of adobe. They add piles of ammendments that are supposed to break up the clay.

Wow! Did they find out what caused the problem?

I don't think so. There wasn't much left of the car but a charred heap. One thing that did survive was a portion of glass in the back window that had a decal on it saying "Gulf War Veteran" or something like that. They kept it. My guess is it was an electrical fire but I don't know for sure. It was a God thing, for sure.

Yup, that clay is tough stuff. The early missionaries used it to build their missions and take over California. Lot of them are still standing. This one is fairly close. How'd you like to make all those adobe bricks?
