We lost an old oak this year too, Wishing, and now I can see pasture I hadn't been able to before. And sunsets! And cattle! But there is still a lot of trunk lying there.

Ours wasn't very old. Maybe 35-40 yrs. The tree guy could tell it had grown very fast. He thought maybe we had an artesian well near by, but we don't, unless you count the leach field for the septic. Sadly it was very healthy, just got too heavy.

Ours was probably over 60 years old but had some rot going on from the base. It was hollow, we could see how hollow it was after the tree guy felled it. It could have come down any time and was quite close to the house. I'm glad I was suspicious of it and had it checked!

They did! We still have quite a bit of work to do, but luckily hubs can borrow a splitter from a guy at work. It's going to take us awhile.
We haven't been able to see the road from the house for 20 yrs. The yard is much bigger now!

My daughter that's been in the hospital again had surgery yesterday. Had the old tube removed, new one placed. She's doing well.

Glad she's doing well. Prayers for her future.
