You know anything about bloodhounds Troyer? Like if their high energy or laid back? Isnt all hounds kinda laid back and lazy?
The laid back and lazy comes after 2-3 years of age. Young hounds are generally highly active and destructive if they don't have something to do on a regular basis.

The popular misconception is that Bloodhounds spend their days lazing on the front porch. The truth is that the Bloodhound, who was bred to follow a scent for hours on end, is an active dog who requires daily exercise. He will benefit from long daily walks, always on a leash, as he may not respond to commands if he has found a scent to follow. Additional exercise time can come in the backyard, which must be securely fenced because Bloodhounds are great diggers and escape artists.

I've had friends with Bloodhounds and they were no small matter to try and train. In their words, They are bullheaded with highly selective hearing.
I have always wanted one, but have never gotten one. If I was sure that I was able to work with a pup on a daily basis I would probably get one. At this time in my life I am more interested in a Bloodhound cross, that way you potentially have a breed that trains more easily in the mix and hopefully countering the stubbornness of the Bloodhound.
If it's a puppy that can be custom trained it might be okay, if it's an adult dog I would not be interested because of how stubborn they are known to be.
